Fiat-collateralized (fiat backed stablecoins). These are digital representations of fiat currency backed one-for-one by reserve assets — cash and short-dated government paper held by a stablecoin issuer, though a fiat-backed stablecoin can still lose its peg if confidence in reserves weakens.
